Troubleshooting

The MetaNet client is an early-stage technology, and while it aims at stability and usability, there are a few common problems that users might encounter as they interact with the software and with MetaNet applications. This section will provide guidance for resolving these issues.

Common Issues

  • Not being able to connect the MetaNet client with a particular application via certain web browsers
  • Problems seeing updated balances and Actions in the user interface
  • A known issue when creating a user account that causes the software to freeze
  • Issues with account recovery

Not being able to connect the MetaNet client with a particular application via certain web browsers.

Symptoms: The application may act as if the MetaNet client is not installed, the application may show a "MetaNet Client Prompt", or other warnings about unsupported browsers.

Solution: Try using a different web browser like Chrome or Firefox, check your firewall rules, and disable Brave Shields.

Problems seeing updated balances and Actions in the user interface.

Symptoms: A disconnect between the Actions reflected by the applications and those that are reflected in the MetaNet client.

Solution: Restart the MetaNet client, including from within the system tray.

A known issue when creating a user account that causes the software to freeze.

Symptoms: During the account creation process, the user will be prompted to save their recovery key, then the interface will freeze and show a loading icon for an indefinite period of time.

Solution: Restart the MetaNet client, including from the system tray, then log into the new account.

Issues with account recovery.

Symptoms: User has lost their recovery key or forgotten their password.

Solution: Use the recovery key that was saved during account creation, or contact the Babbage support team for assistance.
